Part 6 – Keep Your Blog’s Vistors Longer and Lower your Bounce Rate

How do I keep Visitors on my Blog?

In this section, we’ll be covering ways that can keep your visitors on your blog longer. We’ll also look at ways to encourage them to leave comments, and reward the ones that comment the most!

If you are just coming into this case study, You’ll want to start from our previous posts here. Make sure that you subscribe to our "read by e-mail" list. Make sure you don’t miss a single section of this Wordpress Blogging and money making guide!

Why is it important to keep your visitors on your site?

Obviously, you want them to get to know you. You also want to build trust with them, and plant the mindset that you are an authority in the matter. It’s essential to build rapport with them, and this by the way, is done by pictures, personal stories and anecdotes, and finally, reliability. If you regularly post at intervals, whether its 2, 3, or 4 days, your readers will begin to fall in the pattern of waiting for the next post.

Polls and Videos are the #1 way to get people to stay!

People love interaction! Set up a poll or two! Keep them interesting by featuring the newest Poll on your main page in a widget. If you have video, add that from youtube or where ever. Unless the video is a tutorial, keeping the length between 30 seconds to 2 minutes is about all that a visitor can handle before clicking away.

Add a "Related Posts" Plug-In to the top or bottom of your posts.

Keep the readers reading! Let them hop from one post to the next! The longer that they are there, the better your google page rank!

At the end of every post, I try to give the reader an indication of what’s coming up next. This gives them something to really look forward to. The secret of being able to do this is posting a couple articles and a couple days in advance. I just plug in the topic after the article has been written. The other reason to write a couple posts in advance is this: If you’re a family guy or gal like me, lord knows that some days are nearly impossible to sit and write.
